If you're anything like me, you've probably heard “you knew what you were getting into” more than once. You've probably even said it yourself. The reality is you didn't. We didn’t. I certainly didn’t. There is no way you could possibly know what being a stepmum is going to entail.
When people have kids, they go through a process - some kind of commitment, pregnancy, NCT classes. Childfree stepmums are often thrust into our role overnight.
Before you know it, you’re carrying a lot — responsibility, emotional weight, the quiet mental gymnastics of navigating a family structure you didn’t design and have no say over.
You know it can be better, but you’re not sure how.

What to Expect From a Session
Each 60-minute coaching session is held online, and tailored to what you need most. You’ll get:
A grounded conversation. Space to unpack what’s going on, and name what’s not working.
Practical support. You’ll get strategies, tools, and questions to help you shift something – even if it’s just one degree to the left.
Follow-up summary. After the session, I’ll add key takeaways and action steps to a shared document, so you can keep track of what we’ve covered and what comes next.

About Me
I’m Jo Lofthouse (MBACP Accredited), a British integrative therapist and coach, passionate about supporting stepmums to live better, more fulfilled lives.
I’ve been a childfree stepmum for over a decade and a therapist for most of that time. I understand the grey areas, the blurred lines, and the emotional weight that can come with this role — especially when you're not the biological parent, but still deeply affected.
I bring together:
Clinical experience as an integrative therapist (MBACP Accredited).
Lived experience as a stepmum: you didn’t know what you were signing up for - neither did I! I’ve got your back.
A straight-talking, supportive approach – no sugar-coating, no judgement.
